How do I plan a visit for my students?
We strongly recommend that you make a preparatory visit before bringing your students. This allows you to work out practical details such as the location of facilities, organizing students into groups, and to plan your student's trail. Please call us to arrange for a free Educator's Tour.
The Education Service Team has a range of resource to help you with your visit. You can browse and download them from this website. You can also instruct your students to access the variety of online applications for "pre" and "post" visit activities.
Can you suggest some interesting lesson ideas?
Make an appointment for a free special guided tour of our galleries. Our museum educators will be on hand to show you the relevant galleries, suggest ways of structuring your visit and advise you on suitable learning activities for your pupils. When booking, please nominate for what topic and subject you are visiting and with students from which level. You can bring a couple of your colleagues along if you would prefer.
Do I absolutely need to book?
Yes. You must book for all visits, regardless of either guided or unguided, and for any number of students. For guided tours, you should try to book at least 6 weeks in advance. The last day of booking is on the 7th of the preceding month. In order to maintain the quality of experience by other visitors, our museum can only accommodate up till 3 slots of 80 students each for each half of the day. All bookings are made on a first come first serve basis. Since museum visits are very popular during certain period of the year, we reserve the rights to deny entry to any school groups that visit without making prior bookings.
How do I make a booking?
As far as possible, please book through this website. When booking via telephone or email, please ensure that you have the following information:
- Your name, school, teaching subjects and contact details
- The preferred date and time of your visit with alternatives
- The number pupils and of accompanying adults - we recommend a minimum ratio of 20:1
- Type of tours / programmes
